Teacher quality is regarded as the most fundamental factor influencing learner outcomes. UNESCO’s The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. However, ‘the COVID-19 Pandemic’ in the past two years remind us how crucial high-quality public education is in societies, communities, and individual lives. In April 2021, the International Commission on the Futures of Education released a report titled ‘Reimagining Our Futures Together: A New Social Contract for Education’, which aims to spark a public debate on rethinking the purposes and role of education. The report does not intend to write a definitive blueprint document, but rather an open visioning document. However, it still shows the higher expectation of building new cooperative and inclusive educational ecosystems by reinventing architecture, curriculum, and pedagogy. Teachers are expected to play their essential role with their professional knowledge and experience. The organization and governance of education must then be re-examined to respect the importance of teachers’ participation.
The joint online symposium plans to bring relevant researchers and school leaders under the theme of Creating Education Futures: The Role of Teachers and Schools in the New Social Contracts across four different levels of education: Early childhood education, school education, international school education, and higher education. We would like to invite you and/or your team to contribute to this great event to build research collaborations and explore the possibilities of publication and funding opportunities.
