Dr. Li Kan

Dr. Li Kan is an early childhood researcher at Macquarie University

Brief Introduction

Dr. Li Kan is an academic scholar at Macquarie University. Her research focuses on educational digitalization, educational mobility, and multicultural education. She is currently working with Professor Philip Li and Professor Sheila Degotardi on the project “The impact of COVID-19 on Early Childhood Teacher Education Programs in Australian and Chinese Universities.” She has worked as a Research Fellow of Professor Mary Ryan, Dean of Education, Macquarie School of Education. She was the exam supervisor and campus mentor at Macquarie University and is now a research member in the China Research Network at Monash University (part-time).

Dr. Li Kan has published eight journal articles and one book chapter. She has participated in several projects, for example, the research project “the System of Higher Education with Chinese Characteristics,” funded by the Ministry of Education, the People’s Republic of China. She undertook two different research projects about Graduate Education Innovation, funded by the Key Research Centre of Humanities and Social Sciences, Zhejiang Province, in 2013. Moreover, she presented at several international conferences, which Australian and overseas universities organized.

Dr. Li Kan is the award recipient of the China National Scholarship and National Endeavor Scholarship, two of the most prestigious scholarships established by the Chinese Central Government. In addition, she is the award recipient of the International Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (iMQRES), one of the top scholarships granted by Macquarie University.

Current Project

She is currently working with Professor Philip Li (Dean and Chair Professor, Shanghai Institute of Early Childhood Education, Shanghai Normal University) and Professor Sheila Degotardi (Dean, Macquarie School of Education) on the project called “The impact of COVID-19 on Early Childhood Teacher Education Programs in Australian and Chinese Universities.”
